Not all of us have the money to pay for that expensive meal, or wow them with flowers. Either that or you don't want to part with the money you have. Which ever way you put it, everyone finds themselves in a situation where they need cheap romantic ideas... here's a few that could help you out:

Poetry, even bad poetry (see above), is a lost art in modern day romance, but it is still a sure thing if you are looking to give something special. You have to try writing a little yourself at least once… it's sure to impress and it could help you get in touch with how you feel about your partner. An alternative is to take a book of poetry out of the library, have enough candle light in the room to be able to read, and read the poems your comfortable with. Another idea is to have a couple of good poems memorized, or a monologue from a play. It's a little more work, but it will be worth it when you get a chance to recite!

A walk along the beach, or a hike through the woods or a park, is an excellent way to keep your money in your pocket. Keep out of the shopping district ad away from any nice restaurants, and you'll be all set. Pack a little picnic lunch and bring a blanket, and if possible some matches and a some kindling. A couple of sandwiches, some roasted marshmallows, some wine if you can afford it (a couple of beer from the case you couldn't finish off might do) and you got yourself a full night of hiking, eating and …

The main thing for you broke people out there is to be honest with the person you are with, and let them know why you're not fine dining and jet setting. They got to love you for you, so don't spend beyond your means in order to impress. However, if you have the means and you're just being cheap, you might be in a little trouble (you might want to think about visiting the Gift Shop). Only you can know what are the expectations in your relationship, and what are your limits. Show a little flexibility when it comes to setting those parameters, and you should have no trouble.
